The EAST-4D GmbH Lightweight Structures developed and manufactured a new generation of hybrid robot pliers in extreme lightweight construction in co-operation with Institut für Leichtbau- und Kunststofftechnik, University of Dresden (scientific spadework) and the Innovationsgesellschaft für fortgeschrittene Produktionssysteme in der Fahrzeugindustrie mbH (system inspection) for punch riveting, clinching and spot welding. Extreme requirements of the lightweight construction joining pliers like high rigidity and small weight are fulfilled by the specific application of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP).
