The RTM process guarantees an efficient production of fiber-reinforced components. A preform, which can consist of fabrics, non woven fabrics, or other textil semi-finished materials, is positioned in the cavity of a forming tool. The infiltration is caused by a pressure gradient via external pressure and internal vacuum.
By smaller material costs and double sided tool surfaces the RTM technology features a lot of improvements compared to the prepreg technology in many applications.
